Between December 2024 and February 2025, ArcheoServizi carried out archaeological investigations at the Lombardi Property site in Montesarchio (BN), ahead of the construction of a new building.
Excavation revealed a funerary complex of fourteen tombs of different types, dating to the third and fourth centuries AD, together with a trench containing a row of amphorae and a pit containing fragmented building materials.
The findings expand our understanding of the Montesarchio area in Roman times and confirm the considerable archaeological potential of the Caudine district.

A trench containing a row of amphorae was recorded, providing evidence for the organisation and use of ancient spaces. A pit containing fragmented building materials was also documented, probably associated with construction and burial activities at the site.

The findings provide new information on burial practices, the organisation of funerary spaces and patterns of occupation between the late Imperial period and Late Antiquity.
